According to a study conducted at the University of Trieste, some people possess a greater expression of the PDSS2 gene, which means that, in order to get the same caffeine rush from coffee, they have to drink more coffee than the average person

Here are 11 more reasons to have an extra cup every day.

1. You have muscle soreness from your last workout.

The caffeine contained in two cups of coffee have been linked to reduced pain resulting from eccentric exercise–induced, delayed-onset muscle injury.

2. You want to live longer.

Coffee is the most potent source of anti-oxidants in the diet of the average American.

3. You want to improve your memory.

Researchers recently used fMRI brain scans to see whether coffee affects the prefrontal cortex. They discovered that coffee improves both short-term memory and average reaction time.

4. You want to avoid diabetes.

Coffee, in general, reduces the risk of Type II diabetes, but drinking three to four cups of coffee a day is 25% more effective at reducing diabetes than drinking only one or two cups.

5. You want to increase endurance.

Caffeine is effective for enhancing sport performance in trained athletes, can enhance vigilance during bouts of extended exhaustive exercise, and has been shown to be highly effective for time-trial performance.

6. You want to be happier.

Coffee drinkers of both sexes are 50% less likely to commit suicide than non-coffee drinkers, due to the positive mood-enhancing effects of caffeine. In other words, coffee makes you happier and healthier.

7. You need better focus.

Take caffeine and pretty much any measurable statistic related to focus will improve: reaction time, vigilance, attention, logical reasoning – most of the complex functions you associate with intelligence.

8. You want to avoid Multiple Sclerosis.

Compared with those who reported no coffee consumption, the risk of multiple sclerosis was substantially reduced among those who reported a high consumption of coffee – roughly 4 cups of coffee.

9. You want to avoid cavities.

Coffee without sweeteners and creaming agents kills the bacteria that creates cavities. The more coffee you drink, the cleaner your teeth get

10. You want to avoid skin cancer.

Drinking coffee significantly reduces the likelihood that you will develop basal cell carcinomas. The benefit is proportional to the amount of coffee consumed, especially in women.

11. You want healthier DNA.

Compared to people who drink just water, drinkers of coffee experience a lower level of spontaneous DNA strand breaks, which is a well established marker of health risk.
